Black founders, CEOs, and owner operators are welcome to apply to this national grant competition where three winners are ultimately awarded a total of $150,000. Supporting Black-owned businesses is an act of closing the wealth gap experienced by the Black community. We encourage all eligible to learn more about applying.

How the Program Works

Ingredients for Success is a grant and mentorship program awarding a total of $150,000 to three entrepreneurs ($50,000 each). Famous Amos launched this initiative in honor of the brand’s founder Wally Amos to create pathways for Black business owners to thrive.

Application Process

The Ingredients for Success Initiative will support recently created businesses effected by the pandemic. Entries must be submitted by Monday, June 26th by 11:59 p.m. EST.

  • Applicants must be in business for five years or less
  • Your business must be at minimum 90% Black-owned
  • Your business must be headquartered in the United States (excluding Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and other Commonwealths, Territories, and Possessions)

The Judging Process

Ten finalists will be chosen to move to the 2nd round of judging, with the first round winners being announced in July. Judges include, Steve Canal and Nancey Harris.

The Finalists

10 finalists across various categories compete for cash, mentorship and supportive business resources. The list of finalists will be published live on the site. Each finalist will be given the opportunity to participate in the final round of considerations. The three winners will take home a $50,000 grant each.

The judges behind the Winners

Mentorship Resources

The Famous Amos: Ingredients for Success Grant recipients will receive a complete suite of mentoring and coaching resources. Grant recipients will work personally with the executive leadership of both the NBCC and The American Dream Market Place to ensure the mental well being of you as an entrepreneur, and that of your business.  75% of millennials deem mentoring critical to their success Managerial productivity increased by 88% when mentoring was involved, versus only 24% with training alone

No, this contest is open only to US-based registered businesses.

When will grant recipients be announced?

The application period ends on June 26th, 2022. Within the following two weeks, ten finalists will be announced on the Ingredients for Success website and via Famous Amos social media posts. The three finalists will be announced in August 2022.
